Haleem the flavour of Ramzan...

I know no one in Hyderabad will be left with out tasting Haleem in this holy month of Ramzan!

Off course Haleem is the flavor of month & popularity of haleem in Hyderabad for die hard fans of it. Traditional haleem is a type of stew made from pounded wheat and mutton, cooked for over ten hours in a bhatti and served with the garnishing of ghee, coriander and fried onions.The preparation of haleem is an art mastered overtime and practice!

I like to go to Pista House, Charminar for tasting haleem & like it very much for its taste and quality. Actually this is higly nutrioned food. This time in Hyderabad appart from traditional haleem (mutton) there was also chicken, fish and Vegetable haleem (use dry fuits and vegetables) for haleem lovers in city. Irani haleem has also clicked its popularity! 



Ingredients:
• 250 gms Mutton 
• 1 Cup wheat 
• A handful of soaked masoor dal 
• A handful of soaked channa dal 
• A handful of soaked moong dal 
• 2 Fried onions 
• 1 tsp Dhania powder 
• 2 tsp Ginger-garlic paste 
• 1 tsp Chili powder 
• 4 tbsp Ghee 
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric 
• Salt to taste

How to make Haleem: 
•Soak the wheat overnight, drain and pound. 
•Heat 6-8 cups of water in a heavy-bottomed vessel. 
•Add dal, wheat and mutton along with ginger-garlic paste, haldi, dhania powder, red chili powder and salt when the water begins to boil. 
•Cook on low flame till the mutton turns tender. 
•Mash the mutton. 
•Add sliced and fried onion. 
•Heat ghee and pour it over the Haleem. 
•Haleem is ready. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
